Definition

Briscola in Cinque (Briscola for Five) is one of the most socially exciting variants of the game. With 5 players, 40 cards are dealt: eight cards each. The auction phase determines who calls the trump suit and, crucially, which specific card they call — typically the Ace of a suit. The player who holds that card becomes the caller's secret partner, and neither player reveals this until the called card is actually played. This creates a game of inference, bluffing, and deduction as the three opponents try to figure out who the partners are while the partners try to support each other without giving themselves away. The winning partnership is the caller plus their secret partner if they score more than 60 points combined.
