v48.4.0Coppe
The suit of Cups in the Italian Neapolitan deck — one of the four suits used in Briscola and Scopa.
Definition
Coppe (cups) is one of the four suits in the Neapolitan deck. The suit symbol is a decorative chalice or goblet. In Briscola, if the trump card drawn belongs to the coppe suit then all coppe cards become trump and beat every non-trump card regardless of their individual value. In Scopa, coppe cards carry no special suit-based scoring; however, capturing the 7 of coppe contributes to a strong primiera score. Like bastoni, the quantity of coppe cards captured does not directly count toward any of the four main Scopa scoring categories.
