v48.4.0Primiera
A Scopa scoring category: 1 point for the player who holds the best single card from each of the four suits.
Definition
Primiera is one of the four main scoring categories in Scopa. At the end of a hand each player takes the highest-ranked primiera card they captured from each of the four suits (bastoni, coppe, denari, spade) and adds their primiera values together. The primiera values are: 7 = 21, 6 = 18, Ace = 16, 5 = 15, 4 = 14, 3 = 13, 2 = 12, face cards (Re, Donna, Fante) = 10. The player with the highest total primiera score wins 1 point. Because Sevens score highest, capturing the 7 of each suit (and especially the settebello) is crucial for winning primiera. A player who captures all four 7s has a guaranteed primiera victory.
